Official attendance figures aren’t yet out, but seasoned veterans of this year’s CES convention in Las Vegas all agree the show floor is decidedly more crowded than last year — even on the third day, when many attendees often head back home.
The biggest highlights — speaking literally — include huge new 4K resolution displays from Panasonic and LG. The LG Ultra High Definition Display (UHD) utilizes an 84″ diagonal LCD panel with 3840 x 2160 resolution, 240 Hz refresh and LED backlight system.
But size-wise that paled in comparison with Panasonic’s 152″ plasma UHD display, featuring 4096 x 2160 resolution. The company made clear that this was purely a demo, to show off the size of the larger panels from which more ordinary-sized plasma displays are cut from.
Panasonic also put a price tag on their CES-announced 3D HD camcorder, at $21,000. They say they’ll start taking orders around April, for delivery in the fall.
