Apple has filed a suit against Taiwan’s HTC Corp which many observers see as an indirect swipe against Google. HTC is one of several manufacturers of Google’s Android smartphone operating system.

The Apple suit was filed simultaneously with the U.S. International Trade Commission and the U.S. District Court in Delaware, and mentions Google’s Nexus One other Android-based HTC phones including the Hero, Dream and myTouch as infringing products.

The suit claims that twenty hardware and software patents have been infringed, covering user interface processes and other software and hardware components.

Samsung makes Android-based phones also, but HTC appears to be a smaller and easier target to go after.
